This listing is for the Colichemarde Dagger (CS88CLMD). The Colichemarde Sword (CS88CLMS) is sold separately. The Colichemarde emerged in the late 1600s during the decline of the Rapier and the rise of the small sword. It is recognised for its uniquely shaped blade, extra wide at the forte before narrowing for the rest of its length and finishing in a point. This configuration offered a broad, robust forte while keeping the blade light and supple. Cold Steel president Lynn C. Thompson has long been an admirer of the Colichemarde due to its historical design and distinctive proportions, so Cold Steel enlisted the aid of Dave Baker to create a modern interpretation. True to form, the blade mirrors the original design concepts with an extra-long and wide forte that tapers down to an acute point. The hilt features a decorative, highly functional double shell guard, complete with finger loops and knuckle bow, while the grip is fully wire wrapped and capped with a matching pommel. Additionally, Cold Steel has created a matching dagger with a stiff, beautifully ground and polished blade, double quillons, and wire wrapped handle. A collectible piece suited to historical display.
