Modesty seldom comes into play when Cold Steel describes how good their knives are. In the case of the Master Hunter, Cold Steel presents it as a premium fixed-blade design for outdoor and field use. It features a broad VG-1 San Mai III blade that's been flat ground to achieve an efficient blade cross-section and edge geometry. Carefully honed to a keen edge, the dropped point profile simplifies common outdoor preparation and processing tasks. The spine of the blade is a full 3/16" thick to provide the strength and stiffness required for heavy-duty field use. The grip is specially designed to promote long use without fatigue. Made of the shock-absorbent, slightly tacky-feeling Kray-Ex and featuring a deeply checkered surface, it resists slipping even with wet or soiled hands. Kray-Ex is formulated to resist rot, shrinkage, cracking, splintering and mildew, and is highly weather resistant. For safe carry, the Master Hunter comes in a thick, heavy Secure-Ex sheath that will accommodate most belt sizes and is suitable for day-long use.
